Sheaf Poetry Festival is a poetry festival made for Sheffield and beyond!
From the original Sheffield Poetry Festival in 2011, started by Noel Williams and Brian Lewis, Sheaf has grown and evolved through many incarnations to become the festival it is today.
The festival has grown and changed over the years, but its priorities have remained the same – to celebrate all the brilliance Sheffield’s poetry scene has to offer whilst also bringing exciting contemporary poets from the UK and beyond to Sheffield to perform.
Our festival aims to develop poetry readers, writers and listeners through our wide variety of workshops and events. The past few years have taught us that we can create an equally enjoyable festival online and in person, and we’ve continued to prioritise accessibility with live-streamed events.
Sheaf is a registered CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation). Due to a loss of funding in 2024 we are now working as a small team of volunteers to put together occasional events in the spirit of the previous festival, with the aim of continuing to promote poetry in Sheffield.
